May Is Asthma Awareness Month

Every year we recognize Asthma Awareness Month in May to support the more than 25 million Americans, including 6 million children, who may experience asthma symptoms during this peak season. While there is no cure for asthma, the chronic lung disease can be controlled.

What Do I Need to Know?
From gaining a good understanding of asthma triggers to everyone playing a part to create asthma-friendly spaces, together we can ensure that those living with asthma breathe easier. It’s never too early to learn how to manage the chronic lung disease; and it’s never too late to create asthma-friendly environments.

Take a minute to brush up on what exactly may cause asthma to flare up with our free online course, Asthma Basics. Then bring your Asthma Action Plan to your next doctor’s visit. Work with your healthcare provider to identify ways to avoid those triggers and stop asthma from worsening.

Stay Informed
We invite you to join our upcoming webinar:
Asthma & Climate Change: Tips All People with Asthma Should Know Thursday, May 23, 2019   |   4 p.m. CT/5 p.m. ET

Remember, the asthma conversation doesn’t stop here. Join us all month on Twitter and Facebook, visit Lung.org/asthma or call the American Lung Association Lung HelpLine at 1-800-LUNGUSA (1-800-586-4872) for more information or tips during Asthma Awareness Month—and throughout the year.
