COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions and Answers:

Monoclonal Antibodies

While vaccines provide the best protection from COVID-19, treatment options such as Monoclonal Antibodies are available if you test positive. If taken early, they can reduce the risk of severe disease, hospitalization, and death. Ask your doctor about Monoclonal Antibodies or call the Combat COVID Monoclonal Antibodies Call Center at 1-877-332-6585.

Do I Qualify for the Booster?

If you received the Moderna vaccine and meet the criteria below – you qualify for the booster.

Please be sure to bring your vaccination card and call the CommWell Health COVID Helpline at (910)-567-7114 to schedule an appointment at the CommWell Health location nearest to you.

If one of these situations applies to you, and you received the Moderna vaccine, you qualify for the booster at CommWell Health:

1.            Receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood.

2.            Received an organ transplant and are taking medicines to suppress the immune system.

3.            Received a steam cell transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system.

4.            Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome).

5.            Advanced or untreated HIV infection.

6.            Active Treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress the immune response.

Can you get a vaccine in a state or county you do not live in?

Yes. The CDC has instructed states that this is a federal vaccine bought with federal funding. Thus, jurisdictions may not put restrictions on administering vaccinations to non-residents, as long as those persons meet the current eligibility criteria. This applies to both county and state residency.

Where can I get my second dose?

If you received your first dose at a CommWell Health vaccination event, you will receive the second dose through CommWell Health.  The second dose will be given out at the same location and time you received your first dose through CommWell Health. The information for the second dose will be on your vaccination card from your first dose.

When will I receive my second dose?

28 days from the first dose.  When you get your first shot, you will get information on your vaccination card for the second dose. The second dose will be given out at the same location and time you received your first dose through CommWell Health.  You will also receive an email notification from North Carolina with a reminder for your second shot.

North Carolina uses a secure data system called the COVID-19 Vaccine Management system (CVMS) to make sure you are safe and get your second shot at the right time.

Will I receive documentation that I received the vaccine?

Yes. You will receive a vaccination card that tells you what COVID-19 vaccine you received, the date you received it, and where you received it. It will also have the date/time/location for your second dose. If you misplace your vaccination card, we will need to verify you in our system prior to receiving second dose.

We recommend you take a picture of your vaccination card in case you misplace it.
